Collage

Collage became important to me in a time when I didn't know what it was that I wanted to say with my art. I knew that objects were central to my work and the way that I interacted with them was going to be key to my practise. For this series I collected every piece of paper that I came into contact with; pamphlets, tickets, receipts, free magazines etc and used them as media for my artwork. The subsequent series speaks to my physical interaction with a generally online, media based world and I saw the works as a form of ‘proof of existence’. This is something that has translated into my more recent paint works too - the idea that objects serve as a tangible bridge to that which feels just out of reach. The fleeting and the fading.
